Monitoring stations

Air Quality Monitoring Network (RNMCA) comprises 148 stations automatic air quality monitoring stations and 11 mobile:

    • 30 traffic stations
    • 58 industrial type stations
    • 37 urban background type stations
    • 13 suburban type stations
    • 7 regional fund type stations
    • 3 EMEP type stations

Traffic type station

  • assess the influence of traffic on air quality;
  • the range of representativeness is 10-100m;
  • The monitored pollutants are sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), volatile organic compounds (VOC) and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2,5);

Industrial station type

  • evaluates the influence of industrial activities on air quality;
  • radius area of representativeness is 100m-1km;
  • monitored pollutants are sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) and meteorological parameters ( wind direction and speed, pressure, temperature, solar radiata, relative humidity, rainfall);

Urban station type

  • evaluates the influence of "follow the settlements" on air quality;
  • radius area of representativeness is 1-5 km;
  • monitored pollutants are sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) and meteorological parameters ( wind direction and speed, pressure, temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity, rainfall);

Suburban station type

  • evaluates the influence of "follow the settlements" on air quality;
  • radius area of representativeness is 1-5 km;
  • monitored pollutants are sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) and meteorological parameters ( wind direction and speed, pressure, temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity, rainfall);

Regional station type

  • It is the reference station for air quality assessment;
  • radius area of representativeness is 200-500km;
  • monitored pollutants are sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide(CO), ozone (O3), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matter (PM10and PM2.5) and meteorological parameters ( wind direction and speed, pressure, temperature, solar radiata, relative humidity, rainfall);

EMEP station type

  • monitor and assess transboundary air pollution from long distance;
  • are located in the mountains at an average altitude: Fundata, Semenic and Poiana Stampa;
  • monitored pollutants are sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) and meteorological parameters ( wind direction and speed, pressure, temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity, rainfall);
